WebDec 4, 2024 · As another poster replied, perhaps the slinger's purpose is to keep the fuel pump arm lubricated, and is not necessary for FI 5.0s/351Ws with electric pumps. I don't think it was there to avoid oil leakage around the front seal. Ford would have just made a better seal instead of spending money on metal slingers for millions of engines.
